Have Confidence in Your Tools ( and yourself )
This is where a great presentation begins and ends. Having confidence means not only creating a well-designed, knock-their-socks-off presentation, but also covering the bases of travel, display and delivery.
If you have the slightest doubt about how you or your equipment will perform during the presentation, you aren't ready. Put yourself and your tools to the test. Before you present, attempt to simulate all the conditions you are likely to encounter.
- Rehearse enough to become comfortable with the material, but not so much that you kill your own enthusiasm and spontaneity. As a general rule, run through the entire presentation no less than three times, but no more than six.
- Become comfortable with not only the subject matter, but the transitions, sounds and video sequences.
- Practice setting up and taking down the system.
- Test the presentation on a live--but friendly--audience.
