Michael Landrum
Michael Landrum is an actor, speaker, personal business coach and presentation skills trainer. He invented the "Platformance" concept, bringing the craft and technique of the actor to public speaking. He has been a professional actor and spokesman for over thirty-five years. His resume shows work on and off Broadway, in films, television, soap operas, commercials for TV and radio, and corporate programming. He attended Southeast Mo. State College, Wayne State University and the National Theatre School of Canada where he received classical training. He has directed, produced and written for the theatre and taught at the School for Film and Television in New York City. As a speaker he gives keynotes on Creativity, Communication Skills, and Expanding the Spirit. He is an Advanced Toastmaster, a champion of many competitions, a member of the National Speakers Association and the International Federation of Coaches.
Landrum is an expert with tele-prompters and ear-prompters: he has appeared as a spokesman for dozens of Fortune 500 companies in his 35-year career. He is a published writer of fiction; playwright, producer and director off-Broadway and in regional theater. His adaptation of Philistines by Maxim Gorky at St. Clements Theatre in New York, which he adapted, produced and directed, was hailed by critics as "a rediscovered gem!" A founding director of the Court Players Theatre Company at the Detroit Institute of Arts, he has served on the National Board of the Screen Actors Guild, and has been active in Actors Equity Association and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. He served as president of The Unitarian Universalist Society of Orange County, 1998-99.
A multi-faceted man, Michael's creativity has burst forth in several disciplines. He has published fiction, articles and co-authored a memoir with his mother, Three Sisters in Italy. His bronze sculpture was exhibited at the Small Works Show at New York University. Originally from the Midwest, he now lives in Orange County, NY, with his wife Peggy (a potter and art teacher), their six-year-old daughter Elizabeth, and two affable mutts, Bo and Lulu.
