Glenna Raye Shaw

The PowerPoint Magician

Glenna Shaw’s husband nicknamed her the PowerPoint Magician because she loves the “magic” of PowerPoint. Glenna likes to use PowerPoint’s native audio and video features to create Flash-like effects. She calls this technique “PowerPoint Sleight of Hand”.

Because of her quirky sense of humor and her advanced skills, Glenna is frequently sought out for her expertise on presentations, training and desktop publishing. Glenna teaches classes on a variety of topics nationwide.

Glenna’s Appalachian heritage prepared her for a creative career. Glenna was taught how to cook from scratch, sew, crochet, cross-stitch, embroider, and quilt from the cradle up. She began her career life as a Navy mental health therapist. In the early 1980’s, Glenna was intrigued by the new computer industry. She quickly made the leap from people to PCs. Glenna received multiple awards and recognition in her Navy and IT career.

Glenna’s unique blend of originality, psychology and technical expertise has made her an expert in the field of electronic presentations and training. Her credentials include:

  • Microsoft Certified PowerPoint and Word Expert (MOS)

  • Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE)

  • Microsoft Certified Professional + Internet (MCP+I)

  • Certificate in Accessible Information Technology (EASI)

  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP)

Glenna’s current focus is on PowerPoint accessibility and Learning Games.  In 2004 and 2005 she led workshops at the PowerPoint Live Conference and in March 2005 spoke at the Illinois Technology Conference for Educators.

In 2004 Glenna was recognized as a Microsoft PowerPoint Most Valuable Professional.

In 2002, Glenna created and developed PowerPak for PowerPoint for FTC Publishing.  PowerPak is an innovative collection of lesson and game templates designed for educators, presenters and trainers.  In 2004 she followed it up with PowerPak Pro.

Glenna lives in Fayetteville, GA. (just south of Atlanta) with her husband, Ron, daughter, Kira and the most spoiled family member, Sunshine, their yellow lab.  Her daughter Rhea and son-in-law, Philip live close by as do the majority of her close family and friends.
